Perhaps this is not strictly a software engineering topic but it seems to relate vaguely and its is interesting enough to warrant the slightly off category post. Check out the article.

Zondervan is in the process of releasing some new Bible Study software. It looks pretty comprehensive in terms of on-line content and supposedly even supports note taking. However, it doesn't seem to support inductive Bible Study or Manuscript study methods. Notes can only be attached to verses, for example, not to words. (Perhaps attaching to words is unrealistic?) Also, this seems to be desktop focused only so no Pocket-PC support yet (or even mentioned).
The price is pretty steep for the professional and scholar versions but the lower end versions don't seem too unreasonably priced.

Two days ago Elisabeth coaxed Benjamin into "giving away" his pacifiers to more needy little boys. She addressed an envelope to "More Needy Little Boys" and then proceeded to place the pacifiers into the envelop while Benjamin looked on. Yesterday Benjamin said goodbye to the pacifiers before Daddy took them to work.

Here's an interesting discussion of how there are significantly fewer kids watching Saturday morning cartoons.
"Six key factors have led to children watching less Saturday morning cartoons: more recreational sports, the introduction of cable and satellite TV, the Internet and video games, a poorer quality of animation, and a greater emphasis on family time. These factors are rather self-explanatory with the exception of the latter: the divorce rate of Americans now stands at 49 percent, and time on the weekends has become more precious for children as many commute between parents’ houses. For parents who only have limited access to their children due to either divorce or career advancement, plopping them down in front of the television for five hours on a Saturday morning is no longer a viable option. Among most parents, divorced or not, there is a new emphasis on "quality" time. Consequently, taking one’s children to the theater, mall, museum, event, zoo or beach on the weekend is deemed more appropriate to being a "good" parent, than letting kids sit and watch cartoons. To this effect, American society has changed substantially enough over the last two decades to the point where Saturday morning cartoons are less important to our culture."

Recently I have begun to notice the my blog shows up in a remarkable number of Google searches. In an effort to minimize this occurrence Google announced that it will remove blogs from its regular search engine and instead provide a blog specific search engine. The primary reason is that all that blogs do is repost commentary on the main article making it difficult to find the primary source.
Hmmm.... I wonder if I ever do that? :)

The following tip was taken from the Tue, May 13, 2003 (Vol. 3, 19 - Issue 75) edition of WinXPnews™ E-Zine
"Do you want your computer's power to turn off when you shut it down, so you won't have to manually push the power button? Here's how:
- Click Start, then click the Run command. Type REGEDIT in the Open text box and click OK.
- Navigate to the following Registry key:
HKEY CURRENT USERControl PanelDesktop
- Find the PowerOffActive entry in the right pane of the Registry Editor and double click on it.
- In the Edit String dialog box, replace the 0 in the Value data text box with a 1, then click OK.
- Restart the computer.
This does not work all the time as it depends on the type of hardware (motherboard) you have in your computer, but it won't hurt anything."
For a registry file that automagically adds this go here.
